WIP Wednesday – Crazy Squares Table Runner
I’m knee-deep in making the most time-consuming table runner of my life. That means it will be the most beautiful, right?!
My wonderful husband gifted me the Crazy Squares Table Runner Kit for Christmas (he knows the way to my heart!) and I decided to make it my first 2015 project.
The runner has 64 (!) paper pieced blocks each with 15 sections. Here’s my first one!
The fabrics in the kit are just so beautiful. They include hand-woven shot cottons and stripes from Rowan. Having not been familiar with shot cottons, I did a little research. The fabrics are woven with two different (although similar) colors which gives it a really nice depth and sheen. They’re of course a bit pricier than your normal solid but man, they are stunning! I wish my photography skills were better so I could show you the details but you’ll have to take my word for it.
I put a few of them together just because I was being impatient! I guessed a bit on the arrangement of blocks. The pattern says to follow the picture but there wasn’t a picture attached! In fact, when Mike gifted me the kit, I had to look online to find out what it would look like. Not a single picture or diagram in the entire instruction booklet! In all fairness, this pattern is so crazy, I don’t think it really matters which direction I placed the squares.
More blocks to go…
