Spools Quilt for Mother’s Day
I LOVE quilting for my mom. She adores everything I’ve made for her (ignores all the imperfections) and keeps them displayed prominently in the house. She’s my biggest supporter, for sure! When I saw this Spools Quilt pattern in my Playful Piecing Techniques Craftsy class I knew I had to make it for Mom. Happy Mother’s Day!
I picked up a jelly roll at my local quilt shop that I used for the center of the spools blocks. I couldn’t resist those fun florals. It’s from the Fleurologie line by Moda.
Once all the blocks were made and the top was pieced together, I attempted quilting vertical lines with my walking foot down the entirety of the quilt for the first time. Keeping the lines nice and straight was harder than it looks!
I waited a solid 5 minutes after flying home to gift it to my mother. See the duffel bag full of quilts? This is number 3 of the quilts I brought home. She loves it!
The quilt is now hanging in her craft room, right above another Camille Roskelley quilt a few pillows that I made for her. I caught Mom watching me take the picture in her mirror – haha! We were in the process of picking out fabrics for another project when I got distracted by my picture-taking. I just couldn’t fly home without a few more pictures of the finished quilt.
Happy quilting, friends!
