Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks vol. 9 and GIVEAWAY!
I’ve had so much fun working with the staff at Quiltmaker Magazine to test blocks from volume 9 of their 100 Blocks collection. I started volunteering with them last year, which allowed me to not only test blocks, but also to make a gallery quilt of tested blocks for volume 8 (Interruption). It was so fun that I’ve continued volunteering with them and we’ve even gotten started on volume 10.
The magazine is a great collection of blocks from lots of very different designers. They have blocks with various techniques ranging from appliqué to foundation piecing. I’ve picked out a few of the blocks that I tested to show you my version of them. Each is made exactly like the blocks in the magazine, but with fabrics from my stash.
Without further ado, here are my tested blocks, along with the location in the magazine and their designer’s name.
Block #804: Getting Frondly – Kelly Eisinger
Block #813: Hearts and Stars – Martha Walker
Block #825: Starry Path Redux – Jenny Nowinsky
Block #826 Yum Yum Strawberry Cake – Jennifer Ofenstein
Block #831: Petal Pusher – Kari Carr
Block #861: To the Point – Monique Dillard
Block #878: Gretchen’s Sunflowers – Debby Kratovil
Block #880: Read – Cindy Lammon
Block #884: Watch Your Step – Mary McGuire
Block #885: Feeling Breezy – Pam McMahon
Block #888: Winter Path – Jennifer Oden
I think my favorite tested block is the Petal Pusher. I was a bit intimidated by the curved portion but it went together with no problems – yay!
Giveaway time!
I have an extra copy of the magazine to send to one lucky winner! Leave me a comment on this post telling me which block is your favorite. You’re not required to pick one of the blocks I’ve tested so check out Quiltmaker’s blog to see some of the other blocks available! Make sure and leave a comment by Sunday night, May 11th (Mother’s Day!) for a chance to win. Giveaway is for US residents only. Be sure to leave an email address if you’re a “no reply” blogger so that I can get in touch with you if you’re the winner! Good luck!
