Modern Building Blocks Quilt – Complete!
I’m so excited to share my final finish of 2015, and my absolute favorite one of the year!
This is Moda’s Modern Building Blocks Quilt.
The quilt has 48 blocks of varying sizes made with 21 different Moda solids. I finished the quilt top back in May and spent some time debating how to quilt it.
After seeing some of Teresa Silva’s (Quilting Is My Bliss) work on someone else’s version of this quilt, I decided I must send her the quilt to work her magic on it! She did such an amazing job and I’m so in love with this quilt!
I figure that the best way to tell you about this quilt is just so show you lots of pictures. Here they are!
This block is my favorite!
Isn’t it magical? I’m going to be putting this one on our bed. Mike is happy that we can have something a little less girly than our current bed covering – The Butterfly Quilt.
I used a solid purple backing on the quilt which looks so elegant with all of Teresa’s quilting.
Erica once again took these amazing pictures – thank you, friend! We had quite a challenge finding a place to hang the Modern Building Blocks Quilt and see every block. We fought off some wind and bitter cold to pin up the quilt on a local basketball court which ended up working out quite well. Climbing up the fence shows how big this quilt really is!
For the past couple years, I’ve made several large and complex quilts and sent them to Teresa for quilting. In 2014, I made a Swoon Quilt as a wedding gift for my sister and I made Tula Pink’s Butterfly Quilt. Now I have to decide what to make next year!
