Little Houses Table Runner
I’ve been on the lookout for a fun house quilt pattern to make for my Mom’s birthday gift as she has a love for all house quilt designs. I ran across just the thing on Pinterest – A great Missouri Star Quilt Company Tutorial for a mini house table runner.
The construction was pretty easy as the houses were made from charm squares. The body of the house is one charm square, the roof is half a charm square (cut using a handy half-hexi ruler) and the windows/doors are made from one quarter of a charm square. All I had to do was a little math to figure out how many houses I needed, and thus how many charm packs I needed to order. Easy Peasy! Aren’t the little houses cute?
First, I had to arrange the houses in the order I liked. Clearly laying them out straight was not high on my list of priorities (or skills)!
Piece it all together to make a realllllllly long runner. I needed two of my tables to fit the quilt. Ignore the disaster zone (or creative mess as I prefer to call it).
See the lint roller? Turns out jet black fabric is a magnet for batting lint.
I free motion quilted the runner with a basic stipple.
I’m just loving the mini houses!
Here’s my mom’s Christmas table set up with the table runner. I hope she enjoys it!
