Fair Isle Quilt
When I saw Lee’s beautiful Fair Isle quilt pattern come available this fall, I fell in love right away. What a beautiful quilt!! When my dad came to visit me a few weeks later, we decided that it would be a great Christmas gift for Mom. Like I needed any encouragement to make it..
I ordered fabric and got to work! Lots of pretty trimmed up HSTs…
To make beautiful poinsettias!
I then made LOTS of strip sets for reindeer, trees and checkerboard stripes.
So cute, right?!?
I decided to send this quilt off to Stephanie (Late Night Quilter) for her quilting expertise. She quilted this beautiful snowflake panto over the quilt. The large-scale quilting kept the quilt nice, soft and hugable. YES!
Oh, hello Dancer!
I have to thank Stephanie for being my saving grace with this quilt! Somehow the quilt got a black spot on it between when it left my house and was loaded on her long arm. Talk about terrifying. She called me right away, explaining the situation and offered to remake the block for me, add it to the quilt and finish quilting. I can’t thank her enough for doing that. There’s no way the quilt would have made it to my Mom in time for Christmas without her generosity. Thank you!! Aren’t quilters just the best people in the world?!?
A little more red in the binding. I just love those Kona solids.
It looks so good on my couch that I was tempted to keep her! I might make myself one someday. Maybe in blue, white and gray?
Now, Dasher! Now, Dancer! Now, Prancer, and Vixen!
I found the best backing fabric. The color just matched perfectly with the front.
Mom loves her quilt…
and I love her!
Merry Christmas, Mom!
