Escape Artist – Complete!
I hope you all had a magical Christmas with your families and friends! This is our first year not being able to travel home for the holidays but technology allowed us to spend most of the big day video chatting together. That sure made it special!
My husband gifted me a DSLR camera for Christmas so once I learn how to use the gazillion buttons, hopefully you’ll see some better pictures here on the blog. I’m excited!
In the mean time, my friend Erica has taken these lovely pictures of my latest finish – Escape Artist.
Last fall, my friend Jessie came to visit me in Phoenix and we spent a week stitching up two identical versions of this reversible quilt. SO. MUCH. FUN! Escape Artist is another Elizabeth Hartman pattern from her Modern Patchwork book. Jessie and I tag-teamed making this quilt. I sat at the machine and stitched away while she ironed every seam open and kept all of those tiny pieces and strip sets organized. You can see all of our progress shots in this post HERE.
My favorite part of the front is the contrast block. I love me some purple!
The back is a giant oversized contrast block. Which side do you like better? I think it’s a bit of a toss-up for me! Maybe I’ll rotate it on the couch. 🙂
I used 50wt white aurifil thread to stipple the quilt. This is probably this biggest quilt I could quilt on my home machine. The middle was tricky to get to! Jessie sent her quilt to Stephanie @ Late Night Quilter and she did a beautiful pantograph on it. See it HERE.
I really do enjoy making these modern quilts and I especially love finishing up a WIP that’s been on the back burner for over a year. What your longest running WIP that you actually intend on finishing?
