Dwight The Deer Quilt
You may have noticed that I have a slight obsession with Elizabeth Hartman patterns. Ok, ok, it might be more than a slight obsession. Her stuff is just so gosh darn cute! Have you seen her new patterns? My wish list just keeps growing!
So, when my good friend, Jenny, told me she was expecting a baby boy, I couldn’t wait to stitch up the Dwight the Deer Quilt for her. Those fun prints, the linen background fabrics plus the nerd alert glasses. So fun!
Everything on the blocks is pieced except for the glasses which are appliquéd on. I’m always nervous placing on and ironing appliqué onto an intricately pieced block. No mistakes allowed! Thank goodness we got some nicely centered specs on his cute face. I used a small zig zag and it came out really nicely. Phew!
I used an all over large scale meander to keep the quilt nice and soft and make the piecing the star of the project.
It’s backed with a beautiful navy star print from Elizabeth Hartman’s collection. I loved it so much I bought some more to back another project I’m working on. It’s perfect for hiding any stitching mistakes too. (Not that I made any… cough cough.)
Jenny was kind enough to send me a picture of little Brayden enjoying his new quilt. I hope you love it for many years to come, little man!
