Dog Gone Cute- WIP

Are you quilting along with Lorna @ Sew Fresh Quilts on her Dog Gone Cute quilt along? I hope so – it’s super cute! 

Several weeks ago, I shared my fabric pull for the mini quilt in the hopes of making pink and purple pups with a scrappy gray background.

I starting stitching up my first block – loved the purple pup but wasn’t digging the scrappy background.  I think the prints were a bit too dark and busy, and I was afraid the pup wouldn’t be the star of the show. 

I ended up taking a couple week pause with the block hanging on my design wall, debating on how to fix my “problem” or push forward with the scrappy background. I raided my stash and found a gray solid that I had just enough left of.  I think it’s a much better fit – yay!

I’ll be continuing to work on these blocks for the next few weeks – then I’ll get to share the finished project with you as part of Lorna’s Blog Hop! See you then 🙂
