Sparkler Quilt WIP
I’m continuing to work at putting a dent in my WIP pile, and this weekend I pulled out my Sparkler Quilt. I pieced this project 4 houses ago. I tend to remember my life’s details by which state/country I lived in, and this one was pieced in the summer heat of Mississippi in 2013.
I’ve always loved this quilt. The pattern is by Lee Heinrich of Freshly Pieced and was from the Easy Quilt Magazine in the Spring of ’13 and her original was done in a lovely blue – green – purple colorway. Seriously stunning. You can find the pattern here.
I had great plans of quilting my version with some extravagant custom quilting and that’s why I justified moving a quilt top all around the world untouched. However, I think I waited long enough and I’d rather have a functional quilt than one stashed in a closet waiting for some elusive skill to develop!
So I cut the backing and batting, cleared my kitchen floor, turned on some Netflix and now I’m ready to give this quilt the love it deserves.
Hopefully I’ll have a finish to show you by the end of the week!
